David Lynn Walker

David Lynn Walker, 61, of Anamosa, died Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, with interment in the Wilcox Cemetery, Viola, with military honors. Friends may call from 4 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

David is survived by his wife, Peggy; three children, Susan (Paul Lee) Walker of Mason City, Sabrina (Luke) Ritze of Prairieburg and Samantha (Darin Ricklefs) Walker of Anamosa; three sisters, Dianne Foster of Martelle, Barb (David) Colehour of Viola and Kathy and (Rick Evers) Walker of Fairview; six brothers, Elvin of Anamosa, John (Bev) of Cedar Rapids, George (Arlene) of Fairfax, Ed of Georgia, Ivan (Jana) of Stone City and Jeri (Dawn) of Viola; parents-in-law, Jack and Betty Colehour of Stone City; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Beth and Steve Shover of Anamosa, Jan and Terry Hartwig of Anamosa, Jeff and Darla Colehour of Stone City, Larry and Barb Colehour of Viola, Andy and Bonnie Colehour of Anamosa, Melissa and Nick Rundle of Morley and Ben and Lori Colehour of Anamosa; four grandchildren, Taylor and Tyler Rundle, Ashton Ritze and Dallas Lee; 62 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Janice Oetken; a brother, Mike; and two nephews.

David Lynn Walker was born May 30, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Elvin and Sarah Grayce Walker. David attended school in Anamosa and graduated from Anamosa High School with the class of 1970. David served our country in the Army after attending high school. On May 30, 1973, David Walker and Peggy Colehour were united in marriage at the Viola Methodist Church. David was employed as a feed house operator at ADM in Cedar Rapids for 37 years.

He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and will be missed dearly by those closest to him.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in David’s name.
