She had been in ill health since 1928, and of late suffered a fatal illness. She had sought relief and within the past year submitted to two operations but to no avail.

Anna Bertha Sommer (nee Krueger) was the daughter of August and Augusta Krueger, pioneer residents of the Winthrop community. She was born in Bismark township, Sibley county, Minn., on April 24, 1877, and was baptized in the St. John's Lutheran church in Bismark on September 30, 1877.

Her marriage to Herman Sommer took place on December 18, 1902. Spending her entire lifetime in this community Mrs. Sommer enjoyed the acquaintance of a large circle of friends. She was held in high admiration by all who knew her. All condole with the grief stricken family in this the hour of their bereavement.

"A pilgrim and a stranger;
I journey here below,
For distant is my country
The Home to which I go.
Here I must toil and travail,
Oft weary and oppressed,
But there my God shall lead me,
To everlasting rest."

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the home at 1:30 and from the Peace Lutheran church at 2:00. Rev. M. Knoll officiated. Burial was made in the Winthrop cemetery.

The pall bearers were: Alex Krueger, Raymond Krueger, Roland Krueger, Howard Huelskamp, Kenneth Krueger, and Reuben Sommer.
